Bahrain: The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has expressed great concern over a rise in the number of air and land travel bans imposed on some citizens despite not being summoned by any judicial authority.
While NIHR is considerate to the critical circumstances Bahrain is going through, it stresses the need to consider people’s right to freedom of movement guaranteed by the Constitution in accordance with Article 19, stipulating that “A person cannot be arrested, detained, imprisoned or searched, or his place of residence specified or his freedom of residence or movement restricted, except under the provisions of the law and under judicial supervision,” the watchdog said .
