A NEWS report recently spoke about seven million people having visited Expo 2020 Dubai in the 10 weeks since it opened and more than 31m have so far taken a virtual tour of the show.
This shows the importance of Dubai and the UAE in general and its global standing.
This only goes to show the government and the authorities there take bold decisions, independent of the bureaucracy, work regularly and diligently and plan properly.
These are just not numbers but have resulted in several economic and investment returns from around the world, not to mention the spending people have done in the country on residence, transportation, purchases, projects, food and others.
Quite simply, Dubai has achieved full marks, as is the case with their successful projects.
The Dubai economy had previously announced its economic growth forecast for the emirate during the next phase, where it is expected to achieve a growth rate of 3.1 per cent in 2021. The rate will accelerate in 2022 to 3.4pc, supported by several factors, including the Expo.
The task was not easy when, in 2013, there were four contenders from around the world wanting to organise the event, with each of them wanting to show they were worthy hosts.
Dubai was eventually chosen as the first Middle Eastern, African and South Asian nation to organise the global event since the first such show was held in the mid-19th century.
Now, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced that the kingdom has submitted an official request to host the World Expo in Riyadh 2030.
We hope this would be achieved to add to the various achievements of His Highness in a very short period of time since taking office.
I hope to have the opportunity soon to visit the Dubai Expo to learn about the pavilions of the participating countries.
Congratulations to Dubai.
