HORSERACING – A delegation from Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), led by Supreme Council for Environment vice-president, REHC High Committee deputy chairman, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports member Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa, toured some of Ireland’s leading racing yards.
They included those of Donnacha O’Brien and Joseph O’Brien, as well as Ballylinch Stud, a leading thoroughbred breeding operation.
The visits were part of the REHC team’s attendance in today’s Group One Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes.
The delegation gained insight into the facilities and approaches to racehorse training and preparation at the racing yards, as well as thoroughbred breeding at Ballylinch Stud.
The tours provided an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the trainers’ experience and practices, while learning more about racehorse training, preparation and stable management, and exchanging knowledge and views on areas of mutual interest within equestrian sport and horseracing.
Donnacha O’Brien and Joseph O’Brien are among the leading names in Irish racing, bringing extensive experience and a strong record of achievements in the sport.
Today’s Group One Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes is one of the biggest races in international horseracing. It is scheduled to take place at 7pm, Bahrain time, at Leopardstown Racecourse in Ireland.
A star-studded field will be battling it out over 10 furlongs for a share of the staggering EUR1.25million total prize. The horses include Wimbledon Hawkeye, Almaqam, Hotazhell, Lambourn, A Boy Named Susie, Constitution River, Hawk Mountain, and Item.
