Riyadh: The Saudi customs authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 4.5kgs of gold jewellery via the King Fahad Causeway.
The on-duty officers searched a car at the customs checkpoint and seized a haul of 4.693.09kgs of gold jewellery.
King Fahad Causeway Customs director-general Dhaifaalla Al-Otaibi said that the jewellery pieces and sets were concealed in dashboard and other parts of vehicle, reported local Arabic daily Sabq.
The man was arrested and referred to competent authorities.
