MANAMA: Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) has signed a two-year standard ground handling agreement (SGHA) for line maintenance services with Kalitta Air – a provider of air cargo transportation express delivery provider offering both scheduled and chartered transportation services worldwide.
Through this contract, BAS, which is a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) accredited aircraft maintenance provider will provide scheduled technical certification services for all Kalitta Air flights departing from Bahrain International Airport (BIA) during the contract period.
The SGHA entitles BAS to issue certificates of release to service after scheduled maintenance checks as well as rectification, troubleshooting, component replacement and minor repairs within the scope of the authorisation.
On Monday, Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) chairman Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed announced that The Pearl Lounge at BIA has received a 5-star rating from Skytrax.
The minister made the announcement during an event hosted by BAC and Hala Bahrain at The Pearl Lounge.
Skytrax issues an annual list of the best airports, airlines, and airport lounges in the world.
The rating is the top accolade awarded to airline lounges that deliver the highest overall quality performance and recognizes exceptional facilities, amenities, and services.
The minister expressed pride at BIA’s achievement that comes on the back of another 5-star rating by Skytrax in February.
