MANAMA: A photography exhibition has kicked off in Bahrain showcasing work of two award-winning Bangladeshi photographers.
Mustafiz Mamun and Abdul Momin presented their work during the event labelled “Glimpses of Bangladesh” – which was held at Seef Mall.
It was organised by Bangladesh Embassy and Colours of the East art gallery in Bahrain and Bangladesh Travel Writers Association in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Ambassador Dr Mohammed Nazrul Islam was present during the opening.
The event will be held until Wednesday.
Dr Islam described the strong co-operation between the two countries and the importance of showcasing his country’s tourism capabilities.
“We are showing touristic spots, nature and the people in Bangladesh in this event,” he told the GDN.
“Our two award-winning Bangladeshi photographers are taking part in the event.
“We want to show the Bahraini people our culture and give them a glimpse about our country.
“We have around 160,000 nationals living in Bahrain and we are the second biggest community after the Indian community.
“We share an excellent relationship and we plan to bring some of the Bangladeshi business to Bahrain, including pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.
“This is the first photo exhibition we are holding in Bahrain.”
Mr Momin described his excitement at being able to present his work for the first time in the kingdom.
“We wanted to show our country’s religion and culture and share it with Bahrain,” he said.
“I hve displayed a picture of The Sixty Dome Mosque, which is a mosque in Bagerhat, Bangladesh.
“It is a part of the Mosque City of Bagerhat, a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is the largest mosque in Bangladesh from the sultanate period.”
Mr Mamun described his joy in showcasing his work to Bangladeshis in Bahrain.
“There are a lot of Bangladeshi people here in Bahrain and I am very happy that they get to see an event like this,” he said.
“We are sharing our culture and tradition through our photographs.”
