Beirut: Spokesman for Islamic State Abu Mohammad Al Adnani was killed in Syria's Aleppo, BBC reported quoting IS-affiliated media agency Amaq new agency.
"Shaikh Abu Muhammad Al Adnani, the spokesman of the Islamic State, was martyred while surveying the operations to repel the military campaigns against Aleppo."
However, Amaq did not say how Al Adnani was killed, but his death marks one of the most high-profile deaths yet within the leadership of the Islamic State.
Al Adnani, who was in his late 30s, is believed to have been one of the group's most senior leaders.
