Adkhamjon Ergashev of Uzbekistan won the gold in the men’s 67kg category (138-176-314) on the third day of the 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championship yesterday.
Mohammed Yasin of Indonesia lifted 303kg in total to emerge second while Anucha Doungsri of Thailand finished third (136-165-301) in this event.
In the men’s 61kg category, Jia Xionghui ((140-156-296) won the gold medal ahead of Vietnam’s Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan (134-161-295) and Rickoh Saputra of Indonesia (133-158-291) who finished second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, Xue Long (91-118-209) of China was the winner in the women’s 59kg category. In second place was Vietnam’s Quang Thi Tam while Indonesia’s Natasya Beteyob finished third.
The championship, organised by Bahrain Weightlfting Federation under the supervision of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, is being held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The fourth day’s competitions start at 11am today with the men’s 81kg category events. The women’s 64kg competitions start at 1.30pm while the group competitions begin at 4pm with the men’s 73kg category.
