A MAN is on trial for alleged carjacking, threatening another person with brass knuckles and stealing a licence plate.
Following the incident which reportedly took place earlier this month, the 26-year-old Bahraini appeared at the High Criminal Court for his first hearing yesterday.
“I was driving my car on a public road when the defendant stopped me and got in my car without my permission,” said the alleged victim.
“After I refused to take him with me, he produced a sharp weapon and started threatening me,” added the 37-year-old Bahraini man who works for the Interior Ministry.
“He grabbed my arm and stopped the car to the side of the road, so I got out of the vehicle and called the police.
“However, the defendant took the keys from my pocket, moved to driver’s seat and turned on the car.
“I tried to stop him but he threatened me with the brass knuckles so I let go of him and he managed to drive away with the car.”
Court documents add that the vehicle was allegedly found in front of the defendant’s home in Nuwaidrat and its licence plate was replaced by a different, stolen plate; BD15 were also reported stolen from the car.
Documents add that there is CCTV footage of the crime being committed.
