AN agreement expected to significantly boost the number of visitors to Bahrain has been signed with Dubai-based Emirates airline.
The memorandum of understanding was inked by Tourism Minister and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) chairperson Fatima Al Sairafi and Emirates chief commercial officer Adnan Kazim, on the final day of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.
Ms Al Sairafi expressed her hopes that the partnership would provide a gateway for global travellers to visit Bahrain.
Mr Kazim said that the pact was a testament to Emirates’ commitment to the Bahraini market and hoped to continue strengthening this relationship.
The agreement will explore opportunities to promote Bahrain in markets like Japan, South Korea, Spain, Hungary and Poland.
Emirates currently serves Bahrain with 21 weekly flights to Dubai on its Boeing 777.
Bahrain’s new tourism strategy (2022-2026) aims to attract 14.1 million tourists by 2026. Nearly 9.9m tourists visited in 2022, with further growth expected this year.
