Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan has affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to develop national labour systems and legislations.
This came as Mr Humaidan met International Labour Organisation (ILO) director general Gilbert Houngboand and discussed joint co-operation with Bahrain.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 111th session of the International Labour Conference, in Geneva.
Mr Humaidan stressed the kingdom’s continued efforts to create several initiatives that reflect its commitment to international labour standards.
He also highlighted Bahrain’s initiatives and projects to promote labour rights and ensure equality between the various groups of workers, in addition to regulating labour relations and developing business and productivity.
Mr Humaidan also held meetings with labour ministers and heads of delegations of international and Arab organisations and explored prospects of joint co-operation.
He also held a meeting with the Arab Labour Organisation director general Fayez Ali Al Mutairi and discussed the role of the organisation in following up on labour issues in Arab countries.
