Two students from the Shaikh Abdullah Bin Isa Al Khalifa Technical Secondary Boys School, Isa Town, have made the country proud by winning silver medals at the 12th National Robotics Competition.
The event was held earlier this month at the Al Areen Palace and Spa.
The students, Ahmed Mohamed and Sayed Nader, won medals in the secondary schools category of the competition, organised by the Education Ministry.
They designed a robot that co-ordinates and facilitates operations at ports, particularly fuelling, transportation of goods, sorting shipments according to type and detailing methods of storage.
The young innovators thanked their electronics teacher Mohamed Mahdi as well as specialists from the Education Ministry who supported them and provided them with crucial training.
The contest was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. It was attended by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma.
A total of 294 students from both public and private schools took part in the event.
