BAHRAIN has called for unified global action to tackle the scourge of extremism and terrorism.
Chief of Strategic Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry Ambassador Nancy Abdulla Jamal yesterday stressed the need for sustainable solutions as she gave a speech at the UN General Assembly session convened to review the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
The event was held at the UN headquarters in New York, US.
Ambassador Jamal stressed the importance of developing and unifying concepts related to terrorism and extremism, especially in light of emerging complex challenges.
She called for a consensus on definitions and terminologies related to terrorism among the UN member states, in their different languages and cultures which, she said, will contribute to confronting future threats collectively and efficiently.
The ambassador highlighted the importance of finding a sustainable solution to eradicate the sources of extremism.
“Regional efforts established viable standards which are appropriate to the culture of the region, by applying an approach based on the promotion of religious principles and national values, as well as psychological and social safeguards,” she said.
