Mansaf, Jordan’s national dish of lamb served over rice, is well-known for being heavy on the stomach, but one restaurant has come up with a novel idea - allowing diners to take a nap after their meal.
Moab is located in Jordan’s capital city Amman and offers diners a chance to nap in cozy beds in air-conditioned rooms after savouring the national dish, Now This News reported.
“Mansaf is naturally a very heavy meal in Jordan, and it’s important for one to have a nap, sleep, after eating mansaf. Because mansaf shakes the mind, so one has to sleep," customer Mohammad al-Ouqdah told Now This.
"If he did not sleep, then there should be something wrong with the mansaf,” he said.
Co-owner Omar Mbaideen said the restaurant, which only serves mansaf and Jordanian coffee, has a separate sleeping area for those who would like to take a refreshing nap after their meal.
“Jameed yogurt, traditional ghee and meat is used in preparing mansaf, these are heavy ingredients, so most people like to have a nap after eating mansaf,” he said.
