HORSERACING – Victorious Forever horse Senorita Bonita won yesterday the Group Two Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at the July Festival at Newmarket Racecourse in the UK.
The two-year-old, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, triumphed in the six-furlong event ridden by jockey Oisin Murphy for Victorious Forever, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian works and youth affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Senorita Bonita came away with more than £70,000 in prize money for first place, winning with three-quarters-of-a-length’s margin from runner-up Libertango, racing for owner Vefa Ibrahim Araci and trainer George Boughey, with Billy Loughnane in the saddle.
Alwaysanangel took third for Janine Byrne, Joseph Patrick O’Brien, and Dylan Browne McMonagle.
