What is a visit to Mumbai without a hot cup of chai? Christopher Nolan, Tom Holland and Matt Damon embraced the city’s local flavour as they took a break from The Odyssey promotions to enjoy tea and bun maska at the iconic Olympia Coffee House in the southern Colaba area.
The Hollywood trio is currently in Mumbai as part of the film’s global promotional tour. Nolan is joined by the movie’s leading stars, Matt Damon, who plays the legendary Greek king Odysseus, and Tom Holland, who portrays his son, Telemachus. Producer Emma Thomas is also accompanying the team during its two-day visit to the city, India’s Money Control news site reported.
Amid a packed schedule of screenings, media interactions and public appearances, Nolan, Damon and Holland stepped into the popular Colaba restaurant for a quick taste of Mumbai. Videos and pictures from the outing showed the three entering the café and being served glasses of milk tea along with freshly prepared bun maska (bread with butter).
The group appeared relaxed as they greeted those present with smiles and waves. Before taking their first sip, Nolan, Damon and Holland raised their glasses and shared a cheerful moment together.
Universal Pictures India shared a photograph from the outing on social media and wrote, “Quick tea stop before The Odyssey Mumbai Premiere. A big night awaits, but chai comes first!”
The simple caption captured the mood of the visit perfectly. While the trio may be in Mumbai to promote one of the year’s biggest cinematic spectacles, the team still found time to experience a familiar part of the city’s everyday culture.
Their stop at Olympia Coffee House was followed by more promotional activities. Nolan, Thomas, Damon and Holland posed against the scenic backdrop of the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea.
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus on his dangerous journey home after the Trojan War. The film will arrive in cinemas worldwide on Friday.
