ENDURANCE HORSERACING – Bahrain's Royal Endurance Team celebrated double joy yesterday with sensational results in two major international rides in Europe.
Khalifa Jamal Alsendi rode his horse Eole De Coat Frity Aa to an outstanding victory in the 160-kilometre race at Striegistal, Germany, and Shaikha Najla bint Salman Al Khalifa claimed an impressive second on her horse Rdv Sarava in the 120km ride in Poceirao, Portugal.
Both events featured strong competition from top riders from around the world.
In Striegistal, Alsendi powered to his win after six stages of action.
He triumphed ahead of Germany’s Julia Zielinski, saddled on Romeo.
With the result, Royal Stables and Royal Endurance Team director general Dr Khalid Ahmed Hassan emphasised that the victory was a direct result of the unwavering support and continuous guidance of His Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian works and youth affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Dr Hassan highlighted Shaikh Nasser’s commitment to providing all the necessary resources for the team’s success and commended Alsendi’s exceptional performance and high level of skill, which contributed significantly to his well-deserved first-place finish.
For his part, Alsendi expressed his immense joy at winning the title, noting that he looks forward to continuing to work diligently and use his achievement as motivation to deliver even better performances in future competitions, thus contributing to further successes and honourable accomplishments for the Royal Endurance Team.
Alsendi also expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by Shaikh Nasser in selecting him to ride Eole De Coat Frity Aa and conveyed his delight that the horse had secured qualification for the upcoming world championship.
Meanwhile, in Poceirao, Shaikha Najla finished narrowly behind race winner Ruth Guilabert Segura from Spain, who competed on Baress D Gnv.
Shaikha Najla delivered a distinguished performance throughout her event and successfully handled the stages, which resulted in her runner-up finish.
Following the ride, Shaikha Najla expressed her delight in achieving her podium, and stressed that the race witnessed strong competition and constituted an important and useful experience in preparation for upcoming events.
Shaikha Najla added that reaching the podium motivates her to continue working hard in the next phase.
She expressed her gratitude to the Royal Endurance Team’s technical and administrative staff for their outstanding teamwork throughout the past period.
