CYCLING – Members of Bahrain’s cycling national team are in Shuzenji, Japan to participate in a track cycling training camp until Monday next week, in the presence of elite international competitors and teams from around the world. The kingdom’s squad includes cyclists Mohammed Hassan and Hassan Thamer, who are to be guided in their programme by Bahraini coach Jassim Mohammed Hussain.
The camp is being held at the Union Cycliste Internationale’s (UCI) World Cycling Centre regional development satellite, located about 150 kilometres from Tokyo.
It features a number of advanced facilities designed specifically to prepare world-class track cyclists, and it is the first indoor track in Japan with a length of 250m and specifications approved by the UCI.
Bahrain Cycling Association president Dr Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to all officials at the Bahrain Olympic Committee, acknowledging their great interest, co-operation, and support for cycling, and wished the Bahrain national team every success in their camp.
