Bahrain will host two major spectrum management events next month, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced yesterday.
Scheduled to be held from September 9 to 14, the 31st Arab Spectrum Management Group (ASMG) meeting will be followed by the seventh Mena Spectrum Management Conference, which is set to be held on September 13 and 14.
The Arab Spectrum Group was established in 2001 to promote collaboration among its 22 member states in managing radio frequencies.
It aims to co-ordinate spectrum-related matters at both the Arab and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) levels. The main goal of the organisation is to ensure that Arab countries are adequately prepared and capable of efficiently utilising the available frequency spectrum resources. By adopting this approach, they aim to maximise productivity and enhance the overall quality of services.
The 31st ASMG meeting will focus on discussing the agenda items for the upcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23), aiming to solidify the positions of participating countries based on ITU-R activities and the requirements of Arab countries. It also aims to contribute to the WRC-23 agenda and set the agenda items for the subsequent World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27).
Furthermore, the seventh Mena Spectrum Management conference will feature engaging sessions and workshops on a wide range of spectrum-related topics, with the key themes being: ‘The Future Shape of Satellite Systems’, ‘Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN)’, ‘Final Preparation for World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23)’, and ‘Spectrum Bands to Deliver The 6G Vision’.
Attendees can expect discussions, case studies, and presentations from renowned experts offering valuable insights into the latest spectrum management practices.
As a prominent event in the region, the conference will serve as a platform for industry leaders, regulators, and industry stakeholders to discuss spectrum topics relevant to the Mena region and beyond.
The regulator said the two events will provide a range of networking opportunities as well as exchanging knowledge, ideas, and best practices aimed at furthering the evolution of this field.
