Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa outlined the importance of continuing to invest in Bahraini media talents to support creativity and excellence across media production and performance while inaugurating the main studio of the Bahrain TV News Centre and the private radio channels building at the Information Affairs Ministry premises in Isa Town yesterday.
HRH Prince Salman noted that the kingdom continues to put its trust in Team Bahrain, which has produced success stories in every field, including the media.
Technology is an essential tool to support the kingdom’s development, including enhancing its media sector’s global relevance and competitiveness, HRH the Deputy King noted and highlighted that Bahraini citizens’ determination has enabled the kingdom to attain regional and international accomplishments.
Information Affairs Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi welcomed HRH Prince Salman’s visit, adding that the kingdom’s advanced media sector capabilities are a testament to His Majesty King Hamad and HRH the Deputy King’s commitment to the ministry’s efforts in furthering the media’s role to serve the kingdom and its citizens.
The main studio of the Bahrain TV News Centre is three times larger than the current studio and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to cover local, regional, and international events creatively and efficiently.
Information Affairs Ministry assistant under-secretary for technical affairs Abdullah Al Balushi said that this project was executed by local experts with the help of consulting companies.
The project is divided into six sub-projects that include construction, decoration, electrical services, technical equipment, and others. It is aimed at enhancing competitiveness and improving product quality. It will also give a boost to the advertising and promotion sector in Bahrain.
Mr Al Balushi said that the radio broadcasting will use the Radio over Internet Protocol, which is a modern protocol that offers advanced capabilities in modern studios and enables the use of all technologies needed to interact with the public.
He added that 96.5 FM, which is managed by Mumtalakat, has been relocated to broadcast from the new studios, in addition to Hindi radio 104.2 FM, which is run by Indian firm Mirchi.
There are tenders for an English channel, another Hindi channel, and an Arabic channel, in addition to launching a Filipino channel according to the action plan directed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The new studios will also provide technical support and modern equipment, which will be available for private companies to benefit from.
Mr Al Balushi pointed out that the 1,000sqm building was built in the shape of a radio wave.
It has a contemporary design and has a separate entrance in the ministry’s complex, he said.
Regarding the main studio of the News Centre, Mr Al Balushi said that the 450sqm studio provides all the needs of the news centre management such as 4K production technology and the largest wall screen in the ministry, in addition to a modern decor similar to that used in studios of leading channels.
