TENNIS – The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain has appointed Karina Crivtonencu as its new tennis coach, expanding the resort’s luxury leisure offering.
Crivtonencu brings extensive international playing and coaching experience to hotel guests and Royal Beach Club members.
Crivtonencu began playing tennis at age six. At 12, she moved to Spain to train at the prestigious Emilio Sanchez Academy.
She later competed in the US for Christopher Newport University, representing one of the country’s top-ranked NCAA Division Three tennis programmes in both singles and doubles competition.
“Having experienced world-class coaching from such a young age, I developed a profound appreciation for how transformative the right mentorship can be,” Crivtonencu said.
“Every lesson should have a purpose. I would like each guest or member to leave the court with stronger skills, greater confidence, a deeper appreciation for the game, and the excitement to return and continue learning.”
She added: “The experience at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain is much more than coaching tennis. It is about creating memorable experiences where personalised athletic instruction meets genuine hospitality, allowing every guest to develop their game in an inspiring environment.”
Inspired by Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal, Crivtonencu credits his resilience as a constant source of motivation.
“Rafael Nadal taught me that no matter how many challenges you face, if you have the desire, you will find the will to keep moving forward,” she explained.
“That philosophy has shaped not only my tennis career but also who I am as a person.”
Crivtonencu previously coached in Romania, guiding numerous junior students to local tournament victories.
Her advice to aspiring players emphasises consistency: “Start with the fundamentals rather than perfection. Focus on consistency, enjoy the learning process, and embrace both the physical and mental rewards that tennis brings.”
Beyond tennis, Crivtonencu is a certified coach for beginner and intermediate padel, expanding the racquet sports options available at the resort.
With Crivtonencu’s addition to its Royal Beach Club team, the resort strengthens its reputation as a premier lifestyle destination.
