An African national has been put in provisional detention after he was charged with forcibly robbing an employee at a restaurant in the Capital Governorate and taking money from him under threat.
According to the Public Prosecution, the incident came to light after it received a report from the Hoora Police Station. The restaurant employee reported that he was forcibly robbed by the accused, who allegedly threatened him before taking a sum of money and fleeing the scene.
Investigations were launched by the authorities, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused.
When the accused was questioned and confronted with the evidence against him, including CCTV footage, he reportedly admitted to committing the offence and other similar thefts.
The Public Prosecution ordered his pre-trial detention pending investigation, which is ongoing as part of the necessary legal processes to refer the case to the criminal court.
The authorities affirmed that they would continue to fulfil their role in protecting the security of society and safeguarding the rights and property of its members, while taking firm action against anyone who seeks to undermine public security or violate the property of others.
They stressed that the law would be applied to everyone without exception, ensuring the protection of rights and property and promoting security and stability.
