Bahrain has won the second place in a major Quran contest held in Saudi Arabia. More than 100 countries took part in the King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Contest for Memorisation, Recitation and Interpretation, which was organised under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Mohammed Adnan Al Omari, who represented Bahrain, won the second prize in memorising the entire Holy Quran with interpretation.
Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Nawaf Al Maawda praised this new Bahraini achievement under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The awards were announced at the closing ceremony of the contest, which was held on Wednesday in the Grand Mosque. Mecca Deputy Governor Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz honoured the winners.
