Police in Slovakia have fined a car owner after a speed camera photo revealed a dog behind the wheel.
The photo, posted on Facebook, appears to show a smiling canine in the driver's seat of a Skoda. The car owner claimed that his pet, a brown hunting dog, had suddenly leapt into his lap.
However, officers in the village of Šterusy, northeast of the capital, Bratislava, said the footage showed that was not the case as there was no sudden movement in the car.
It is not clear whether the fine, issued to the owner, was for speeding or for failing to secure the pet in a moving vehicle.
Police have appealed to drivers to secure their pets safely while driving.
"Even a small animal can endanger your life and health while you are behind the wheel," police warned.
