THE Indian Club has set the stage for The Bahrain International Series Badminton Tournament 2023; in association with The Bahrain Badminton & Squash Federation, and approved by BWF (Bahrain World Federations) & Badminton Asia, from November 14-19 at its premises in Gudaibiya.
The tournament has attracted more than 200 internationally-ranked players from 26 countries, making it the largest International Series tournament held in Bahrain, the organisers said during a Press conference at the Indian Club.
It was stated that the largest contingent of players will be from India. In addition to the ‘home’ Bahraini contestants, other countries that will be represented include Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Dutch, Finland, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Spain, Syria, Thailand, Sri Lanka, USA, UAE, Vietnam, and many more.
The tournament, with a total prize money of $5,000, will feature the following categories – Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles.
Matches will commence at 9am every day on the Indian Club’s two international-standard courts and continue through to a daily 9pm finish.
The Grand Finals Day will be Sunday, November 19.
Following the success of last year’s International Series the expectation for this year is much higher due to the high-ranking players’ participation in this year’s tournament.
