DECORATIONS have started to go up around the kingdom, as Bahrain prepares to celebrate its 52nd National Day this weekend.
The nation will mark the establishment of the modern Bahraini kingdom as an Arab and Muslim state, founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad’s Accession to the Throne, on Saturday and Sunday.
Festive decorations have gone up in a number of locations including Isa Town, Hamad Town, Manama, Saar and Zallaq, as the country’s landmarks, ministries and malls are lit up in the red and white colours of the Bahrain flag.
In the Capital Governorate, fireworks will light up the sky tomorrow near the Bahrain Financial Harbour at 5pm. There will also be a light show and a performance by the Police Band.
The Bahrain International Circuit is also expected to have its annual fireworks display on Saturday, with the precise timing of the festivities to be announced in the coming days.
Bahrain University has a series of celebrations at 3pm today in its main courtyard, and will only be open to students and faculty of the campus.

Celebrations will include performances, food and interactive activities.
The Southern Governorate had a series of heritage and fun activities yesterday to celebrate the families of Zallaq, including Ardha performances and a children’s tent.
There will also be a carnival for children from tomorrow to Saturday, from 3pm to 9pm at the local bazaar in Isa Town, next to Ramez.
In Muharraq, the Youth Market returns again this year at Saada Project, from tomorrow to Monday, highlighting various Bahraini youth projects, in addition to singing performances from 7pm-9pm.
In addition, starting tomorrow, the Muharraq Nights festival promises 10 nights of unforgettable music and cultural immersion.
The Northern Governorate is organising a competition for the best decorations, with winners to be announced in January.

National Day decorations in the Southern Governorate
In addition, there will be a National Day celebration, including an Ardha dance performance, on Saturday as well as a motorcycle ride on Sunday.
Bahrain’s malls are also joining in on the patriotic fun with Dragon City hosting celebrations from tomorrow to Saturday from 5pm to 11pm with game booths, Leywa and Ardha performances and more.
The Avenues Bahrain will be hosting a number of National Day celebrations from tomorrow to Monday, including a photo booth stand on all four days from 10am to midnight, and Ardha performances from Friday to Sunday from 5pm to 9pm.
Oasis Mall Juffair will be hosting an evening of traditional Hazawi storytelling and other competitions with Baba Yaseen on Sunday starting at 7pm.
Water Garden City will also be hosting Festival City from tomorrow until December 31, with a number of attractions, food options and local vendors showcasing their wares.
