Tamkeen announced support for salary increments of more than 400 Bahraini employees at LuLu Hypermarket. This represents 67 per cent of the total Bahraini workforce at the retail giant.
The move comes under Tamkeen’s ‘Wage Increment Support Programme’, designed to boost career development for Bahrainis in the private sector.
“We are dedicated to nurturing national talent,” said Tamkeen chief executive Maha Mofeez. “Our programmes encourage companies to retain their existing Bahraini workforce and create supportive work environments.”
Ms Mofeez commended LuLu Hypermarket’s role in the economy and its commitment to employing Bahrainis.
LuLu Group international director Juzer Rupawala highlighted the company’s focus on investing in Bahraini human capital.
“Our Bahraini staff are integral to LuLu’s success,” said Mr Rupawala.
“Their career progression reflects the growth of Bahrain’s economy. We are grateful for Tamkeen’s partnership, allowing us to further support their development and create more high-quality jobs.”
LuLu Hypermarket, a subsidiary of LuLu Group International, has been a major player in Bahrain’s retail sector since 2007. It operates 12 stores across the country and contributes significantly to job creation and economic development.
Tamkeen’s support aligns with its 2024 strategic goals focused on economic impact and the private sector. These goals include increasing economic participation through new jobs, expanding career development opportunities for Bahrainis, and fostering a more productive and technologically advanced private sector.
