KHK Racing contender Adrestia finished a solid 11th yesterday from 24 runners in the Queen Mary Stakes event at Royal Ascot.
The two-year-old filly, trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, was ridden by Callum Shepherd for KHK Racing, owned by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Adrestia continued the fine showing of Bahraini horses on the second day of competition at Ascot Racecourse in the UK.
On Tuesday, Pledgeofallegiance took first place in the Ascots Stakes for Bahrain’s Victorious Racing, owned by His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and SCYS chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Bahraini runners are also set to appear on the turf tomorrow, with Battle Queen set to go out for Victorious Racing and Jasour for Al Mohamediya Racing.
Battle Queen, trained by Andrew Matthews Balding, will be one of 42 runners in the Sandringham Stakes Fillies’ Handicap race, while Jasour will be racing in the Commonwealth Cup, which is set to feature 22 horses. The Clive Cox-trained contender will be ridden by Jim Crowley.
Then, on Saturday, Victorious Racing’s Isle of Jura will compete in the Ascot Hardwicke Stakes, ridden by Shepherd for trainer Scott.
