Campaigns were carried out in the northern parts of the country, where teams checked marine licences for small vessels, availability of essential tools and safety of workers.
At least 1,200 active fishing licences are currently registered with the Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Ministry.
An annual six-month mandatory ban on catching, trading and selling shrimp in Bahrain came into effect from February 1 and will last until July 31. It is aimed at preserving marine wealth and protecting fish stocks in Bahrain, while giving them a chance to replenish.
Authorities have urged fishermen in the kingdom to strictly adhere to the ban, stating that failure to do so will result in legal consequences.
