BASKETBALL – TRISKELION were crowned champions of the Aspirants Division in the Filipino Club Basketball Group’s (FCBG) fifth Adliya Park Hoopsters Basketball Tournament.
Triskelion clinched the title after defeating heavy favourites Adliya Revolt 55-49 in the final.
It was a see-saw battle throughout the game until Triskelion sharpshooter Khel Grisola fired in two crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help lift his side. Reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Jeff Mirandilla then scored five consecutive points for the victors with less than two minutes remaining.
Welvic Bautista had six blocks in the contest as the anchor of the Triskelion interior defence.
Grisola was later named as the final’s MVP.
In the other games, Astig Basketball team pocketed the third-place trophy in the FCBG’s 40-and-above division after defeating Taif Contracting 84-81 in their group final; while Verminex took game one against Leica Geosystems in their best-of-three finals series.
In the Inter-Kulay division of the second conference Master Cup in the FCBG’s 45th season, Verminex took a 1-0 lead against Zenjex Tigbas in their best-of-three battle for the title.
