BAHRAIN have climbed four places to 76th on the latest edition of the Fifa World Ranking – the senior men’s national team’s highest classification in 14 years.
The Bahrainis gained 12.49 ranking points and are now on a 1,315.49 total.
It is Bahrain’s best ranking since 2010, when they were 60th in their top placing that year.
The nationals improved to 11th amongst teams in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Japan are still the top-ranked continental side and 16th overall in the world with 1,639.6 points, while Iran follow in 19th at 1,622.92 points. South Korea are third in the AFC and 23rd in the world with 1,572.61, while Australia (25th, 1,544.3) and Qatar (44th, 1,481.69) complete Asia’s top five.
Reigning Fifa World Cup champions Argentina remained as the highest-placed squad globally with 1,889.02 points, followed by France on 1,851.92 points, and Spain on 1,836.42.
The next edition of the Fifa World Ranking will be issued on October 24.
