Scores of star-gazers in Bahrain looked to the skies last night to witness a crimson moon that enveloped the kingdom as part of a total lunar eclipse.
The eclipse began around 5.30pm with the moonrise, but it was only clear around 7.30pm.
It reached its maximum (when the moon is deepest within Earth’s umbral shadow) from 9.11pm until 9.52pm, and gradually exited the umbral shadow by 10.56pm. In all its phases, the eclipse lasted around five-and-a-half hours.
