Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Meteorology has issued red alert warnings for large parts of the country’s western regions, forecasting moderate to heavy rain, leading to flash floods, accompanied by hail and dust-stirring winds in parts of Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions, with conditions varying in intensity but persisting until Thursday (Sept 7- 11).
The country’s Civil Defence service has asked residents to exercise caution and follow safety procedures as there is an imminent risk of flash flooding in valleys and low-lying regions. Dust-stirring winds up to 60 km/h may also reduce visibility on the roads.
Light to moderate rain is also expected in parts of Riyadh, Eastern and Najran regions.
