Sael Al Waary, group chief executive of Bank ABC, has been selected as one of Finance Middle East’s Top GCC Banking CEOs 2024.
With more than 35 years of experience, Mr Al Waary leads the bank’s operations across 15 countries on five continents. In addition to his role at Bank ABC, he serves as chairman of Bank ABC Jordan and Arab Financial Services, and vice-chairman of Bank ABC Egypt.
He is also the founder and chairman of ila Bank, Bahrain’s first digital mobile-only bank, launched in 2019.
A frequent speaker at industry events like the Singapore Fintech Festival and the Middle East FinTech Forum, he advocates for change in the banking sector, focusing on fintech and digital transformation. He also founded the MEA Fintech Forum, which brings together global leaders to discuss industry challenges and trends.
The 2024 list of 34 leaders was compiled through a rigorous evaluation process, considering factors such as the CEO’s impact on the region, country, and served markets; overall experience and tenure; company size and financial performance; achievements and performance over the past year; and innovative initiatives and strategic leadership.
“From industry veterans to new disruptors, these leaders are shaping the future of the Middle East’s banking sector with talent, experience, knowledge and vision,” said Finance Middle East.
