A man in the US has been charged with the murder of his wife and defilement of the body after discovering that he had googled 'how long does it take to get married after spouse dies'.
Naresh Bhatt is being accused of murdering his wife, 28-year-old Mamta Kafle Bhatt, and of disposing of her body.
The mother of one was reported missing on August 5, after not showing up for work since July 29. Her absence from work prompted a wellness check at her home by the local police department.
At the time, Naresh Bhatt claimed that he and his wife were going through a separation.
On August 22, Naresh was charged with the murder of his wife after police found evidence at the couple's home of a body being dragged out.
Prosecutors are saying that Naresh allegedly used his work laptop to Google 'How long does it take to get married after spouse dies', 'What happen to debt died spouse', and 'What happens if spouse disappears in Virginia.'
The prosecutors also accuse Naresh of buying a set of three knives on July 30, and they also claim to have CCTV footage of him buying cleaning supplies at a different store.
Naresh's defence team say that his wife is still alive, despite the authorities saying that they had conducted extensive searches after her disappearance.
