The 23rd World Renewable Energy Congress, titled "Addressing Climate Challenges, Adopting Renewable Energy, Achieving Carbon Neutrality," commenced today in Bahrain.
The event, organised by Kingdom University in collaboration with the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), the Ministry of Oil and Environment, and supported by Bapco Energies and Tamkeen, runs from January 13 to 16.
The event gathers local, regional, and international academic institutions, experts, and professionals to promote a just energy transition, exchange ideas and expertise, and explore opportunities for future cooperation and partnerships.
Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, highlighted the conference's alignment with Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen its efforts in renewable energy and sustainability, in line with global trends towards a new green economy.
He emphasised that hosting such specialised conferences, exhibitions, and events in Bahrain contributes to preparing qualified professionals in this sector.
Dr. Bin Dainah commended Kingdom University for its role in supporting research initiatives and advancing scientific inquiry in the Gulf region.
Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, CEO of Bapco Energies, commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, in leading innovation and transformation in the energy sector through various projects and partnerships.
He underscored the important role of national energy companies in accelerating the energy transition and reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to developing the energy sector as a cornerstone of economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Jawahery described the conference as a leading platform for clean energy discussions, reflecting Bapco Energies’ dedication to supporting Bahrain's efforts to address climate challenges and achieve carbon neutrality.
Professor Hassan Al Hajhooj, President of Kingdom University, highlighted the university's commitment to advancing scientific research and supporting global sustainable energy efforts through the conference.
The 23rd World Renewable Energy Congress features 16 scientific sessions, three workshops, and discussions on 12 key topics, such as renewable energy, energy conservation, climate challenges, sustainable environments, carbon neutrality, and green architecture.
