His Majesty King Hamad yesterday ratified and issued Law (2) of 2025, approving Bahrain’s accession to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, following its approval by the Shura Council and Parliament.
Article I: Bahrain’s accession to the 1949 Convention on Road Traffic, drafted in Geneva on 19 September 1949, as annexed to this law, is hereby approved.
Article II: The Prime Minister and the ministers, each in their capacities, shall implement the provisions of this law, which shall come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The King ratified and issued Law (3) of 2025, amending certain provisions of the Penal Code issued by Decree-Law 15 of 1976.
Article I: A new clause (12) and a third paragraph are added to Article (380) of the Penal Code issued by Decree-Law 15 of 1976. A second and third paragraph shall be added to Article (396) of the same law, as follows:
Article (380), Clause (12): Any mobile phone, or laptop, or tablet, or any other electronic, magnetic, optical, or electrochemical device, a tool integrating communication and computing technologies, or any device capable of receiving, transmitting, processing, storing, and retrieving data at high speed.
Article (380), third paragraph: The minimum penalty prescribed in the preceding two paragraphs shall be imprisonment for no less than one year if the theft involves the devices or tools mentioned in Clause (12) of this article with the intent to obtain the information, data, or images they contain.
Article (396), second and third paragraphs: The penalty shall be imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or a fine not exceeding BD500 if the crime involves a mobile phone, laptop, tablet, or any electronic, magnetic, optical, electrochemical device, or a tool integrating communication and computing technologies, or any other device capable of receiving, transmitting, processing, storing, and retrieving data at high speed.
The penalty shall be imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding BD500, or either of these penalties if the devices or tools mentioned in the preceding paragraph are seized to obtain the information, data, or images they contain.
Article II: The Prime Minister and the ministers, each in their capacities, shall implement the provisions of this law, which shall come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
The King also ratified and issued Law (4) of 2025, repealing Article (28) of Decree-Law (18) of 1997 with respect to the practice of pharmacists and pharmaceutical centres,
Article I: Article (28) of Decree-Law (18) of 1997 with respect to the practice of pharmacists and pharmaceutical centres is hereby repealed.
Article II: The Prime Minister and the ministers, each in their capacities, shall implement the provisions of this law, which shall come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
