Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa led Bahrain’s delegation at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai, held under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments.’
The summit, which opened yesterday, brings together world leaders, government officials, and experts to discuss global challenges and innovative solutions.
The minister highlighted the summit as a key platform for exchanging insights, best practices, and strategies to enhance governance and further develop international co-operation. He emphasised its role in addressing pressing global issues through discussions that bring together leaders, decision-makers, and experts.
The summit focuses on six main themes: effective governance and accountability; financing the future and the global economy; climate, crisis mitigation, and resilient cities; human-centric futures and capacity building; global health transformations; and emerging frontiers and the future. It features discussions led by international leaders, ministers, and experts on major global trends and transformations.
Bahrain’s delegation included Supreme Council for Youth and Sport secretary general (SCYS) Ayman Al Moayyed, Sustainable Development Minister Noor Al Khulaif, Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi, Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Khalid Al Humaidan, Civil Service Bureau president Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, and Mumtalakat CEO Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
Delegation members participated in panels, discussions, and forums addressing key challenges and effective governance practices to support national growth and development.
During the summit, Shaikh Salman met Ousmane Dione, World Bank vice president for the Middle East and North Africa.
The minister emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to expanding co-operation with international financial and economic institutions. He highlighted the World Bank’s key role in supporting global economic development.
He emphasised the importance of Bahrain’s strategic partnership with the World Bank in implementing development programmes that drive economic growth and enhance cooperation to achieve shared goals.
The minister also met Wouter Van Wersch, executive vice president of Airbus.
He emphasised the importance of further developing co-operation with leading global companies and creating promising investment opportunities to support economic growth.
