During the 21st Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix race weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit, while the primary purpose of every night’s concert was to keep the party going, the final show had the added responsibility of bringing down the curtain on an amazing sell-out weekend.
And Grammy-nominated artist, DJ, and producer Axwell delivered, getting crowds up and moving despite many being tired out from an exhilarating three-plus days of on-track and off-track action.
Of course, the Swedish DJ is no stranger to parties, having began drumming at the age of nine only to trade his drums in four years later for a computer so he could create each element of his music on his own.
Last night, fans of all ages crowded around the main stage for the visually and sonically stunning performance, swaying as Axwell played some of his best hits, delivering popular remixes of ‘Burn’ by Usher, ‘Ma, I Don’t Love Her’ by Clipse and Faith Evans, ‘Maybe’ by N*E*R*D, ‘Angel’ by Pharrell, and more.
The co-founder of Swedish House Mafia and Axwell & Ingrosso, took the crowd on a rollercoaster of serenades, from fast-paced heart-thumpers to slower beats.
While the second night’s concert with Peggy Gou was best enjoyed on one’s feet, last night’s music gave us a chance to put our feet up, if we so chose.
Of course, there were still a number of spontaneous mini dance-parties breaking out across the vending area, as fans joined marshals and volunteers in celebrating a fantastic weekend.
After all, Axwell remained true to the weekend’s theme, ‘The Desert Never Sleeps’ as he lit up the stages with fiery displays and resounding fireworks that kept the streets of Sakhir bumping.
The concert was a reminder that even when the party ends, the show must go on!
