JIU-JITSU – Reza Monfaradi BJJ Team finished as the top-ranked academy in the second edition of the Bahrain Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025, held at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The meeting was held under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
GSA vice-chairman and Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC) president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended the event, which was organised by the Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation (BJJF) under the supervision of the BCSC.
Reza Monfaradi BJJ Team athletes came away with an impressive 178 points from 53 wins and 30 losses all Gi and No-Gi categories of the competition. They bagged 30 medals in all, including 17 gold, six silver, and seven bronze.
Elements JJ Bahrain finished as the overall runners-up amongst the academies, posting 79 points from 24 wins and 43 losses. They secured 21 medals, including four gold, 13 silver, and four bronze.
Bahrain Fighters completed the top three in the rankings with 56 points from 22 wins and six losses. They collected 10 medals, including five gold, three silver, and two bronze.
Spearheading the Reza Monfaradi BJJ Team’s campaign was Bahrain-based European champion Pedro Bisi de Jesus, who captured a sensational four gold medals by himself in his various categories.
De Jesus won gold in both the Gi and No-Gi male adult blue belt under-94kg divisions, as well as in the Gi and No-Gi male youth blue belt over-69kg to 90kg categories.
He was one of a few talented fighters representing academies from Bahrain and abroad who came away with multiple medals in the event.
The championship was also attended by BJJF president Redha Ibrahim Monfaradi, Bahrain Wrestling Federation president Abdulredha Abdulhussain Haji, BJJF members, and BCSC executive director Jaafar Ali bin Jaafar.
Shaikh Salman extended his appreciation to Shaikh Khalid for his patronage and reaffirmed the BCSC’s commitment to advancing combat sports in line with Shaikh Khalid’s vision.
He commended the BJJF, led by Monfaradi, for its role in developing jiu-jitsu and noted the strong participation and high technical standards witnessed at the championship, reflecting the steady progress of the sport.
Shaikh Salman awarded the various winners with their respective medals and wished them success in their future events.
