Horseracing – His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman, and Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa crowned winners of the equestrian competitions at the Royal Windsor Horse Festival yesterday.
His Majesty deputised Shaikh Nasser to attend the closing ceremony. SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Committee deputy chairman Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa attended the event.
Shaikh Nasser toured the Royal Windsor Equestrian Festival, where he was briefed on its activities, which included the showjumping championship on the cup of His Majesty the King and the Windsor Military Showjumping Competition with the participation of Bahraini military teams from the Bahrain Defence Force and the Interior Ministry.
Shaikh Nasser emphasised that the Windsor Equestrian Festival reflects the strength of Bahraini-British relations, which are always witnessing continuous progress and development at all levels.
He pointed out the importance of enhancing co-operation between Bahrain and the UK and opening wide horizons in distinguished strategic partnerships, including the Windsor Equestrian Festival, which has a distinguished and prestigious position on the international horse racing map.
Shaikh Nasser praised the numerous events and fierce competitions that the festival witnessed as a major sporting gathering that attracted all the attention from participants and interested people from different countries of the world.
He also commended the festival’s organisation, which embodied the history and tradition of equestrian sports in the UK and its expertise in organising horse races. He extended congratulations to all the winners and wished them continued success.
