A fresh proposal to ban the sale of cigarettes and tobacco products in cold stores across Bahrain’s neighbourhoods has ignited debate among legislators, municipal officials and civil society organisations.
The move, spearheaded by the Anti-Smoking Society Bahrain, seeks to restrict the sale of tobacco products to licensed outlets only – such as specialist vape shops, supermarkets and hypermarkets – in a bid to limit public exposure to tobacco and curb smoking rates in the country .
