BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN continues to step up its preparations to host the U16 Asia Cup Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) Qualifiers 2025.
The tournament is set to feature all six GCC nations and it will be held in the kingdom from Monday next week to July 12. It is a qualification event for this year’s Fiba Asia U16 Championship, which is set to be held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, this September.
Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president and the competition’s supreme organising committee chairman Alaa Mudara affirmed yesterday that all working committees are busy gearing up for the qualifiers. He affirmed that their efforts reflect their commitment to presenting an event that lives up to the high organisational reputation and efficiency enjoyed by Bahrain at all levels.
Mudara noted that the tournament’s supreme organising committee and executive committee are working as one team to complete all aspects of preparation to host the visiting teams, including their accommodation and transportation, and the readiness of the game and practice venues.
Mudara expressed his sincere thanks to Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his unwavering support to host the competition.
The participating six-nation field in the tournament has been divided into two groups. Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE are in Group A, while Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain are in Group B.
Games will be held at the BBA Arena in Um Al Hassam, and play will begin with a preliminary round, to be followed by the knockouts.
