JIU-JITSU – BAHRAIN will be hosting the West Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 next month, the Bahrain Combat Sports Council (BCSC) announced yesterday.
The event will be held on August 29 and 30 at Isa Sports City in Riffa, and it is sanctioned by Jiu-Jitsu International Federation and Jiu-Jitsu Asian Union.
Athletes representing 13 nations are set to take part. They include fighters from Jordan, the UAE, Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Kuwait, Palestine, and hosts Bahrain.
BCSC member and Bahrain Jiu-Jitsu Federation (BJJF) president Redha Monfaredi affirmed that the kingdom’s hosting and organisation of the event embodies the support and interest of the wise leadership and of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Monfaredi also praised GSA deputy chairman and BCSC president Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa for his efforts to raise the level and efficiency of national federations under the umbrella of the BCSC, in a way that raises the level and performance of all those in Bahrain’s combat sports.
The BJJF chief noted that staging the West Asian competition is a strong incentive to strengthen sports relations, stimulate the kingdom’s sports tourism, and help achieve the goals of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
Monfaredi stressed that the BJJF has already begun the organisational steps through which it seeks to ensure the success and excellence of this edition of the championship.
