FOOTBALL – THE new board of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) was elected last night.
Nine members emerged during the BFA’s ordinary general assembly for the 2025-29 electoral cycle.
BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa chaired yesterday’s gathering, held at The Gulf Hotel Bahrain. It was attended by representatives from the kingdom’s football clubs competing in both the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League and the Bahrain Second Division.
The BFA board members who will be serving over the next four years, under the chairmanship of Shaikh Ali, include Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa, Shaikh Salman bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Shaikh Isa bin Hussam Al Khalifa, Khalid Fuad Kanoo, Rashid Zayed Alzayani, Ahmed Al Bahdhi, Mohammed Rashdan, and Nayef Majed Isa.
They were among 13 candidates who vied for the seats. The four hopefuls who were not elected included Mohammed Qassim, Abdulla Ashoor, Ali Mayouf, and Hassan Khalfan.
During last night’s ordinary general assembly, Shaikh Ali praised the unlimited support and generous patronage that Bahrain football enjoys from His Majesty King Hamad and from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Ali also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and to SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for their continued backing of the BFA and its activities.
Also at the meeting, various important topics involving the BFA were discussed, including the approval of the association’s administrative and financial reports, in addition to the 2025 budget, which amounted to BD647,595.
