HORSERACING – ONEMOREDANCE triumphed in the Dublin To Bahrain Handicap – the first of seven events in the third edition of the Dublin to Bahrain Race Series – held at Leopardstown Racecourse in Ireland on Thursday.
The victorious three-year-old was competing in the nine-furlong race for owners Whyte Hickey Rafter Kilkenny Syndicate and trainer JP Murtagh, with jockey Rory Mulligan in the saddle.
Onemoredance led narrowly after five furlongs and stretched it to a clear advantage towards the finish, enjoying a length-and-a-quarter’s gap from runner-up Molto Amichi, racing for owners Muchos Amigos Syndicate, trainer Eoin Griffin, and with jockey Colin Keane in the saddle.
Cheers Again came third for Mrs John Raymond Eastwood, Paul Flynn, and Jack Cleary.
A total of seven horses ran in the race.
This year’s Dublin to Bahrain Race Series consists of four handicaps, with the winner of each earning an automatic spot in the Bahrain Turf Series, which features 12 races with prize money of $80,000 to $100,000 apiece.
The series’ second handicap is scheduled to take place on Thursday next week, with the two others on August 21 and October 19.
The three other events in this season’s Dublin to Bahrain Race Series are the Group Three The Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes on August 7, the Group One The Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes on September 13, and the Listed The Bahrain Turf Club Knockaire Stakes on October 19.
