His Majesty King Hamad issued yesterday decree 40 of 2025, restructuring the General Sports Authority (GSA) board of directors, based on the proposal of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman and following the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the decree, the GSA board shall be restructured under the chairmanship of SCYS first deputy chairman, GSA chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and with the membership of GSA vice-chairman Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa, the SCYS secretary general, Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the SCYS assistant secretary general, Nibras Mohammed Ali Talib, and Dr Thomas James Rosandich.
The term of membership shall be four years, renewable for similar terms.
The SCYS chairman shall implement this decree, which shall come into effect from the date of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.
His Majesty also issued Decree 44 of 2025, appointing a director general at the general secretariat of the SCYS, based on a proposal by the SCYS chairman and following the approval of the Cabinet.
According to the decree, Noora Ahmed Al Balushi, director of the planning, policies and follow-up directorate at the general secretariat of the SCYS, shall be appointed as director general of planning and resources at the SCYS general secretariat, with the rank of assistant undersecretary, succeeding Nani Mohammed Yousif Butti.
The SCYS chairman shall implement the decree, which shall come into effect from the date of its issuance and be published in the Official Gazette.
