HORSERACING – Alice Monet triumphed in the second handicap event of the third Dublin to Bahrain Race Series, held at Leopardstown Racecourse in Ireland on Thursday.
The victorious three-year-old was competing in the nine-furlong race for owners Moyglare Stud Farm and trainer DK Weld, with jockey Chris Hayes in the saddle.
Alice Monet rode well and Hayes kept their form one furlong out. They then claimed their victory with a two-and-a-half length’s gap from runner-up Refreshment, racing for owners Refreshment Partnership, trainer Mark Fahey, and jockey Gavin Ryan.
Onemoredance came third, competing for Whyte Hickey Rafter Kilkenny Syndicate, JP Murtgh, and Rory Mulligan. Onemoredance had earlier won the first event in this year’s Dublin To Bahrain Race Series last week.
This year’s seven-event schedule consists of four handicaps, with the winner of each earning an automatic spot in the Bahrain Turf Series, which features 12 races and prize money of $80,000 to $100,000 apiece.
The series’ other handicap races are scheduled for August 21 and October 19. The three other events in this series are the Group Three The Bahrain Turf Club Desmond Stakes on August 7, the Group One The Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes on September 13, and the Listed The Bahrain Turf Club Knockaire Stakes on October 19.
