FOOTBALL – THE 2025-26 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League resumes this weekend with matchweek 18 taking place across three nights.
The games will see the return of fans to the venues for the first time in the kingdom’s football competitions since the start of the unfortunate events that have been taking place in the region.
Two fixtures are scheduled for each evening. Tonight, defending champions Muharraq take on Hidd at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, while Al Najma face off with Budaiya at Al Ahli Club Stadium in Mahooz, both kicking off at 7pm.
Tomorrow, Al Ahli lock horns with relegation-threatened Bahrain Club at the National Stadium in Riffa at 5.25pm, followed by title contenders Riffa battling A’ali at Khalifa Sports City Stadium at 7.35pm.
On Saturday, Malkiya go head-to-head with Al Shabab, who are also facing an automatic drop to the Bahrain First Division, at the National Stadium at 5.25pm. After that contest, current table-toppers Al Khaldiya go up against Sitra at Khalifa Sports City Stadium at 7.35pm.
Following this round, only four gameweeks remain in the Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League season.
Khaldiya currently top the standings with 42 points, followed by Muharraq with 40 and Riffa on 34.
Heading into this weekend’s action, Muharraq’s Edimar Ribeiro da Costa Junior leads the race for the league’s top scorer award with 12 goals to his name.
Khaldiya’s DR Congo professional Joel Beya Tumuteka and Ahli’s Abdulla Al Hashash follow with nine goals apiece.
