2,182 people and their dependents had their citizenship revoked in Kuwait yesterday under new amendments to citizenship laws, according to a list published in the official Kuwait Gazette.
The first amendment clarifies that "Kuwaitis are those who lived in the nation before the year 1920, and continued their residency in it until 14 December 1959".
A comprehensive list of names was published alongside the amendments. Among those who lost their citizenship is prominent Muslim scholar and author Nabil Al Awadi.
